Our Founder and CEO, Rıfat Hazan, shared his insights on the interior design industry and his perspective on design, in the 75th issue of EGİAD Yarın magazine.

Rıfat HAZAN

1- Can you briefly introduce yourself?

I’m a professional who adopts an innovative and meticulous approach in the fields of interior design, product design and construction. I was born in 1991 in İzmir and received my education at Izmir American College followed by the Pratt Institute. Throughout my career, I have aimed to create innovative, original, and aesthetic designs. My passion is to go beyond the ordinary and to make the experiences within spaces more enjoyable and inspiring. My goal is to design spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, contextually appropriate, and environmentally sustainable. I am always inspired by spaces that tell a story. For this reason, I strive to reflect the unique texture of a place, building, or city in every project I undertake.

2- Could you share your hobbies with us?

I have a deep interest in almost every form and movement of art. Modern art, pop art, and street art are major sources of inspiration for me. Additionally, I love exploring different cultures, understanding their rituals, and studying how these elements are reflected in design. Traveling and research play a big role in this. Music is also an essential part of my life—playing the drums and creating playlists are activities that help me relax.

3- In which industry do you operate? Could you briefly share some information about your work and industry trends?

Under the RE-Interiors / RE-Mimarlık brand, we operate in architectural design, product design, and visualization, while I also personally engage in real estate development and construction. The architecture and construction sectors have undergone significant evolution in recent years, focusing on environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and technological integration. Concepts like smart buildings, green roofs, and zero-energy structures are now integral to our industry. Moreover, topics like digital fabrication and artificial intelligence have become increasingly prevalent. We are actively taking steps to educate ourselves and implement these innovations in our projects.

4- What are your economic evaluations and expectations for 2024?

My economic outlook for 2024 is generally optimistic. Despite global economic uncertainties, I believe that technological advancements and innovative solutions will create new opportunities. Particularly in the design and construction sectors, the focus on sustainability and energy efficiency will become increasingly important. I foresee a rise in investments and ongoing projects within this area.

5- Why EGİAD? What are your expectations from EGİAD, and how do you view its initiatives?

My main reason for joining EGİAD is the opportunity to connect with like-minded, entrepreneurial young professionals from various industries. EGİAD offers me the chance to stay updated on the latest trends in my sector while also fostering interdisciplinary collaborations and expanding my network. I believe EGİAD plays a vital role in encouraging regional and national entrepreneurship. I am confident that its initiatives will contribute significantly to developing innovative ideas and projects that will shape the future.
